Factors to consider when looking for an ITIL ITSM solution:
- Look for a feature set that is manageable with existing resources
- Establish the full costs including additional modules, maintenance, training and consultancy
- Investigate the effort and resources required to update and upgrade the system; consider who will have to pay for this
- Check your requirements for integration with existing data sources and business applications
- Consider how long it will take to implement a software package and the impact on service levels to the business
- Establish the training requirements
- Establish if the scope of your support function extends beyond IT, for example, Facilities Management and other consolidated service desk disciplines
- Consider your future requirements and choose a product feature set that will meet future demands on the IT function.
- Is there a requirement to align business processes utilising standards such as the ITIL framework
